What can you get to within a 15-minute walk of your house?

A recent YouGov survey asked Americans what they think they should be able to get to within a 15-minute walk of their house.

Of these choices, I can currently walk to all of them from my apartment, aside from a university (no biggie, I’m not currently studying, although there is a Tafe within walking distance), a hospital, and a sports arena.

How many can you get to with a 15 minute walk from your house?

I don’t quite understand ‘park’ being so high on the list: isn’t the whole point of a suburban house that you have your own park (your own garden) because you fear communal parks

Suburbs weren’t from a fear of communal parks. Parks are still common in suburbs that have larger yards.

Suburbs were a way to continue segregation in schools and services by moving further away so that minorities wouldn’t have immediate access in a logistics sense.

Dense neighborhoods like this wouldn’t have big yards. The park is a gathering place for the community, a place to walk dogs, and a spot for children to play.
