I normally don’t really drink energy/caffeine drinks. But I won’t deny I remember liking the taste of original monster.

Once in a while no, won’t cause harm. But if you don’t drink caffeine you may feel the hit of an energy drink strongly. This varies from person to person but you can feel shaky or your heart beating faster etc.

From my perspective that’s the best part of it. I don’t ever drink coffee and only once or twice a year - if I’m going on a long road trip - I drink one energy drink. As far as I know they have a much lower dose in Europe (20 mg caffeine per 100 ml drink) compared to the US but still it has an immense effect to keep me awake etc.

The maximum allowed in Denmark at least is 32mg/100ml so that seems to be what most of them target here.

Friend gave me one of those pre-workout energy drinks and it got opened so I didn’t want to let it go to waste. Effect was “I can’t sleep and I’m angry”

Assuming no underlying health conditions, damn near anything you can buy that’s labelled for human ingestion is fine occasionally. Even stuff like caffeine that’s somewhat addictive, if you actually make it an occasional thing, it isn’t a big deal. Hell, if you have the sense to keep it to very rare occasions, tobacco isn’t anything to worry about, even when smoked. It isn’t good for you, but if it’s a thing where you only have a cigar on your birthday, it’s not doing anything your body can’t handle.

A monthly dose of energy drink? Well, it means your tastebuds are shot already, but that’s different issue lol. It won’t mess up your heart, digestion, or anything else as long as you don’t have an issue that would indicate otherwise.

It will effect your health but having most “bad” foods in normal amounts every once in a while won’t really hurt you. Any effect would be minimal at worst so long as you dont have preexisting health conditions. If you already have high blood pressure or a heart condition, energy drinks are probably not a good idea.

If you have a low caffeine tolerance, maybe it might be a bit much for you. If you regularly drink coffee or whatever, drinking a single energy drink here and there probably won’t kill you (any more than most things).

The dose makes the poison. Hell, some literal hard drugs wouldn’t have lasting effects on you if you only took them once in a while.

There’s a great deal in it,’ the Controller replied. ‘Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.’

    ‘What?’ questioned the Savage, uncomprehending.

‘It’s one of the conditions of perfect health. That’s why we’ve made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.’

    ‘V.P.S.?’

‘Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It’s the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconveniences.’

    ‘But I like the inconveniences.’

‘We don’t,’ said the Controller. ‘We prefer to do things comfortably.’

Can of Monster (zero sugar / 10 calories / 140mg caffeine) is my breakfast most days. My blood pressure runs pretty high, but I also have insomnia (started waaay before I discovered energy drinks), work full time, am going to school part time, and have chronic pain in multiple locations, so… Monster or not, it’s gonna be fucking high. Probably less high without the Monster, I’m under no illusion that it’s good for me, but the moral of the story is your physiology is dependent on a TON of variables; whether or not your lifestyle adds up to ‘healthy’ is a tally on how you manage all of them.

Also some variables are unknown - I could have shitty blood vessels and not know it until I randomly rupture my aortic artery, or have a weak heart or something, and with things like that, energy drinks can absolutely be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Seems anything that tastes or feels good comes with some risk.

Do pay attention to your total caffeine intake though… a can of monster, followed by some coffee, followed by some pre-workout, followed by some tea, and you’re looking at like a full gram of caffeine in a single day. THAT can kill you.

High blood pressure shouldn’t be a normal thing, eating a ketogenic diet can help with the blood pressure. And since you’re doing zero sugar monster, you can still keep drinking it!

Many energy drinks have less caffeine than a cup of coffee, red bull for example is 80mg caffeine whereas my nespresso pods are 110mg each

A regular cup of coffee is described locally as having 60mg of caffeine. Could be that you drink very strong coffee in comparison :-)
