I had a collection of their music videos on VHS too.
They were bad, but they made all the other bands sound great!
Head Cleaner unironically sounds like something a group really would’ve called themselves.
This was the good kind. The gear moved the head cleaner back and forth like a brush.
From what I recall Play Both Sides was their only album, but virtually everyone had a copy so they must have been pretty good!
That’s what you get from a one-hit-wonder. One Album tops and that’s it.
And even now they don’t get that. You listen to that one song that you kinda like then their album flops.
I think the leader started another group called Head Demagnetizer. Really loud, too!
Got their CD when it first came out. The weirdest track ran along a ring of little brush tufts coming out of the CD surface. This band had some serious experimentalism happening.
That was my nickname in college
The hidden tracks were the best!
Wouldn’t the band be “Play Both Sides”, shotgun/dibs/etc., and the album called “Head Cleaner”?
You gotta sniff the bottle to hear the album.
That’s the cheap kind that ruined your heads. The good head cleaner had a little hole near the spool to drip isopropyl alcohol onto the cleaning tape.
IMO these are terrible, a qtip and some ipa work wonders. These usually cawe with some kind of ipa or acetone concoction that was way too aggressive and could damage your heads. Learned that the hard way
Why would you use beer to clean something? Strange.
Isopropyl alcohol LMAO
Lol. Pretty sure they meant IA. Not sure isopropyl is supposed to be shortened to two letters.
I’ve always heard and seen it as ipa, probably because ia is too short, and could be misinterpreted.
I used stout, it worked fine.
Oh don’t get me started… they started their debut on Floppy Diskettes.
A very good Merzbow song though.
Oh yes, this is one of the places you can post it where people will remember what it is.
