The A18’s multi-core score approximately rivals the original M1 chip from 2020, of which many people still use to this day with adequate performance characteristics.

Bro, people still use Intel-based MacBooks!

The cynic in me directly thought of how this could be a way for Apple to force the Mac App Store on these machines. Granted it is based on a fear, not grounded on something.

Will never happen because then Apple couldn’t sell you a $1000 MacBook to go with it. Google, on the other hand, seems to be full Steam ahead on this project, because they don’t sell any other computers.

This I would love. Make a MacBook a shell and the actual work happen on a phone you insert into it. Just eject your iPhone and take it with you, then inert the entire phone into the next shell you feel like using it with, desktop or laptop.

M1 performance with (hopefully) 16 gigs of ram? Yeah that’s the perfect computer for a “normal” person who just wants to browse the web on something other than a phone or tablet.

Honestly I just wish these machines had better display scaling options. I’d really like a “looks like 1080p” (ish) option for when I’m out and about and need to remote desktop into my PC at home for work stuff. Currently I use an el cheapo ThinkPad for that.
