The Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive) had expansions that were meant to improve the capability of the system and extend its lifespan, but ultimately they weren’t super popular because it didn’t make sense to make games for such a small subset of Sega’s market share.
This is the 32x add-on that allowed for 32bit processing, and someone has just stacked a bunch of them on top of each other to be funny.
(Pictured here is the base system in the center, with the 32x add-on on top and the CD player below)
Wait till it’s so enshittified it’s unusable
Discord is going public soon, so start the timer…
Same. It takes sort of a bold leap of faith.
We waited a while but realized that if we had been a little less risk averse, we could’ve started earlier and been totally fine.
Yeah, that’s the guy who measures his nighttime erections and has MRIs done every other week, to name a couple of his fixations. It’s a weird way to live, but I have to admit that I’m curious to hear what he’s up to every so often.
This has been my experience too. And then once one side does something in response to what was covered in their bubble, the opposite side has no idea why and is completely befuddled by their behavior.
I delayed it for maybe 10 years after they first started asking if I wanted to get them removed, then finally decided it was time about a year or two ago. The recovery sucked for a couple of days, but I don’t remember my bill being exceptionally bad (I think my insurance paid quite a bit though).
I haven’t read the book, but that makes this even funnier to me. Lol
Will add that to my list.
Would you please change the title back? I know you’re joking, but we’ve had to remove personal “callout” posts from here before because it causes drama or people to gang up/stalk their comments elsewhere.
I usually blame it on ADHD, but who knows?
And it happened again!
Don’t worry, you’ll learn your lesson before next time. Surely.
You made this? That’s awesome!
It’s been cycling through my PC’s wallpaper folder for years. I always seem to read something new when it pops up again.
Lots of engineers probably got their start by taking random things apart and breaking them as a kid too. Clocks, radios, etc.
It’s the social media equivalent of supporting a bunch of Mom and Pop shops (or opening your own!) vs some hyper-sanitized, corporate monstrosity like Wal-Mart.
but it shipped, didn’t it! Looking at you pippin.
This is the kind of story I was hoping to hear in this thread.
Did you enjoy it at the time, or was there a sense of it not being a great console? I know that we were much more forgiving of janky games back then, so it’s hard to look at it fairly from 2025.
I’m not totally sure how to moderate this with our “no politics” rule in this community. I’m thinking the situation (and this meme) is more independently funny than about a political agenda or bickering, so I’m leaving this up.
The spirit of the rule is simply to prevent this community from being another political battleground, and I don’t think this post crosses that line.
