Maybe it’s Crony capitalism instead?
Go to all the live gigs, then invest. Probably steal PayPal.
HACK THE PLANET!
That’s why you need public funding to support and nourish the industry. We’ve got that in our state where we can get grants to start up studios. This allowed for studios such as Massive Monster to be created.
VC funding isn’t great because they can pull out if the project or investment doesn’t suit them. See League of Geeks.
My guess is that the American working system has drained so much from their working population that leashes are required because they have no energy left to pay full attention to their children.
My very first full time job had an ‘internet computer’!
Humble beginnings! I hope he continues to make many more soundtracks. I loved all the music in the game. It felt so right.
Hmmmm… I prefer cold fusion and astrum.
Hey now… I’d totally take the extra 5cm. Maybe 15cm.
Nah… Maybe the vast majority of what you watch but there’s so many out there spanning decades.
Astro Boy. Samurai Pizza Cats. Ergo Proxy. Ninja Scroll. Akira. Ghost in the Shell. Cowboy Bebop. Battle Angel Akita. Yowamushi Pedal.
On and on it goes…
Maybe in America, but in most other places homelessness isn’t demonised nearly as much (also America is probably the only place that will make you homeless if you get seriously ill).
I think somewhere in the Nordic states, they’ve trialled UBI in an area and I think with success.
Edit: So the results are a mixed bag, as you would expect, but generally people were much happier with UBI.
Hmmmm. Sounds like something UBI could solve.
Um… I’m Australian and we just kicked out all the pro-Trump candidates. We also get to pick from a really long list of parties and even get to pick exactly who in the party we want. Voting is compulsory and because of that, voting has to be made accessible: it’s on a Saturday, you can vote early and polling stations are set up literally everywhere, even in the most remote locations.
America has more agency than a dictatorship. That’s a very low bar.
Edit: also Trump vs Xi.
One has no goal for the country except to line his own pockets and the other has very strong goals for the country (involving actually making their country an economic powerhouse).
One sees himself as a strict father of his country and the other sees himself as king.
If it was a decision between Trump and Xi, I’d pick Xi any day of the week. It’s a shit choice but I’d rather a leader than a puppet.
Yep, I’m not doubting that.
I have to say, though, my most favourite American accent is the Minnesota one. Fargo helped make it all sound very endearing. Unsure how they pronounce mirror. Perhaps it’s ‘meer’.
Ok, ok I may have a solution that will make everyone happy: let’s all speak Esperanto! One flag for all!

These are what I found after searching literacy statistics for both nations. I haven’t gone and checked through the data but it seems that the UK has a lower illiteracy rate than the US.
Hmmmm yes but the average American reads at a grade 6 level, so I daresay UK beats USA there.
The way ‘herbs’ or ‘erbs’ (as some pronounce it) drives me absolutely nuts.
Also, ‘mirror’ where it sounds like ‘meer’ drives me nuts.
I definitely prefer British English. Love reading the old Agatha Christie books. E.g. “My word!” The colonel ejaculated, “I do believe that she’s dead!”
This is my friend. Had a Steam Deck and couldn’t figure out Steam OS so they installed Windows on it instead. He’s very tech literate but somehow can’t grasp Linux. On the other hand, I’ve transitioned fine to Linux Mint.
