It becomes a definite violation if it’s combined with health information, even as simple “a baby was born here with the name X”. If she just says “I saw a name spelled X” then it may not be a violation of the law, but the hospital would probably still can her for it.

You’re totally right that Ripley shows a strong woman that embraces feminine traits, but there’s a lot to say about a character that breaks gender norms. A more complicated but ultimately faster approach is using a structure like an Entity Component System. I read it perfectly fine, you’re the one judging by unfair standards here. Severe ADHD is not just “hunters in a society of farmers”, it’s a debilitating executive function disorder that affects every aspect of life. You may be privileged enough to not feel it’s a problem, but it 100% is for me and many others. There is something wrong with my brain that needs treatment. Telling another person “you’re not sick” when they emphatically tell you they are struggling is what lacks in empathy or understanding.
I try to give leeway when someone isn’t aware of their privilege, it’s really hard to confront. That is until I try to explain my experience and I just get a complete lack of any attempt at understanding.

Totally agree. The “there is nothing wrong with us” in particular (and similar sentiments) gets under my skin so bad. I’m happy for them that they are privileged enough to feel that way, but there is absolutely something wrong with me. Is that a value judgment? No. It’s a statement of fact. Just like my physical disabilities constitute something being wrong. It has no bearing on my self-worth, I just feel more able to cope when I acknowledge that there is a problem with me that others don’t face.
Medication isn’t just a bandaid on outside factors, it can serve as a short term treatment tool to help someone face the issues they are struggling with. I would bet most people on some kind of antidepressant were not on them permanently, just long enough to get stable and see results from therapy and work. That’s the problem with being anti-medication without much nuance, it stigmatizes the tools people use as being unnecessary bandaids or crutches. It just screams “you don’t need meds, just deal with your issues”.
The problem with portraying it like this is there is no room for nuance, it pits medication against society with no room for both. Maybe it wouldn’t read like that if there wasn’t a societal stigma against mental illness and meds, but that’s ironically the world we live in.
You clearly don’t have severe ADHD. It is absolutely a debilitating disability that would ruin my life without medication. The problem here isn’t whether it’s wrong or not, it’s that your radical acceptance lacks any understanding whatsoever. As someone who deals with the same, I 100% agree with you. In my mind, whatever I need to survive is the “right” thing. Them throwing a “but” after the “it’s okay to be on meds” minimizes what we need in favor of what they prefer.
Also nothing but protein and a smidge of fat. The only carbs you get is the little bit of sugar in the wine, but considering it recommends dry wine that’s not much. I bet you’d have the worst headache of your life by day three.
I think the more important factor is taking ownership over something that originated elsewhere.

It wasn’t necessarily appropriation for the Portuguese to bring tea back to Europe, but it certainly was when the British used Chinese seeds and cultivation techniques in India to push China out of the trade.

I did some FPGA programming in school, so I totally get it. The hardware is really amazing, but the janky proprietary development toolchains not so much. Plus, Verilog is kind of a pain in the ass.
FPGA mimics hardware 1:1 without overhead, which is why it works well. This is talking about software emulation, which has to use lots of shortcuts to make it fast enough (for most machines). The N64 has a weird architecture though that makes it difficult to find shortcuts that work well.
There isn’t actually a ton of translating going on with the Switch, as it’s basically just a computer (an ARM computer, but still). The N64 had a very different architecture that doesn’t work like modern computers do. On top of that, games on it relied on low level graphics code that makes it very difficult to cheat like other emulators do.
