Cascade Platinum is my favourite dishwasher detergent. I’ve been using it for years (https://cascadeclean.com/en-us/products/cascade-platinum-actionpacs-dishwasher-detergent-fresh-scent/)
In the last week, my local costco warehouse and costco.ca stopped providing Cascade Platinum. Instead, they’re still selling Cascade Power Clean in green box (https://www.costco.ca/cascade-power-clean-dishwasher-detergent-actionpacs%2C-115-count.product.100483144.html) and they added a new product to the shelf Cascade Platinum Plus (https://www.costco.ca/cascade-platinum-plus-actionpacs%2C-81-count.product.4000230558.html)
I’ve tried the power green one, and I’m not satisfy with its quality: the smell of the food may remain in my dishwasher. The Platinum Plus is much more expensive than Platinum.
Does Costco changed the product line at your warehouse?

I saw this vid and he talks about the cascade paks. It might help you find a better dishwasher technique idk I dont own one.
Brilliant video! After watching this video I realized that I had some myth about detergent. I’m going to
- Switch to powder from pods
- Buy Rinse
- Clean my dishwasher periodly
Costco used to have spicy mayo poke. I would go once or twice a week for it. They discontinued it like 3 years ago and I haven’t been a member since.
Stuff disappears and comes back all the time at my store. I don’t know how it is in Canada, but sometimes the management after the cash registers can say if something’s temporary or been discontinued by looking in the inventory system. Often they don’t know, though.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone who had a favourite dishwashing soap.
I’ve never noticed a difference between any of them, I just buy whatever is cheapest / closest at hand.
I once saw a grown man throw a fit at work because Costco was out of Hammermill office paper.
No idea, we use the cheaper Kirkland brand - it works very well, don’t see a reason to pay more.
Costco changes product lines all the time. It’s all based on the best deals their buyers can secure and sales performance. It can also be pretty local. Costcos near the coast have more watersport options. They use local suppliers for some food items.
We also have a “business center” Costco near us that has a bunch of stuff that normal Costco doesn’t, lots of commercial kitchen stuff, lots of stuff you’d find at mini marts more office supplies. Still sold in bulk but often packaged more for breaking up and selling individually. This place often has different selection than the other stores like more soda flavors including some that used to be at regular stores but aren’t anymore. So maybe if you can find one of these you’ll find what you’re looking for.
till sold in bulk but often packaged more for breaking up and selling individually.
Brilliant!
I just found that while costco.ca removed this SKU, costco business centre added a new SKU, which is exact what I need https://www.costcobusinesscentre.ca/cascade-platinum-dishwasher-detergent%2C-93-tabs.product.2001142484.html
I guess that costco is trying to promote the more profitable, more expensive new product from Cascade.
Personally, I don’t think it worth my extra trip to biz centre for the detergent. Next time if I really need something which disappeared from warehouse, I’ll visit a business centre and check if they just moved it.
Thank you once again
