Just got an itch to play lemmings-esque games on my tablet. Trying to convert things I do and like to foss versions.

Is there really any FOSS on iOS?

With the app store cost, and sideloading being so problematic, it makes it much less attractive.

It’s actually easier to have foss on Apple for this reason

You put a price tag to the client/app and there it is a business model without relying on donation, because you cannot sideload without being a dev :)

Free as in freedom not just as in beer

And paying for distribution is not the same as paying for the software…

I’m not sure I’m explaining myself well enough.

That was my point since the beginning and you are not the first one repeating it lol

Have you ever tried to install non-App Store apps on iOS?

Because I have. It’s very limited.

No, because I cannot compile stuff

Exactly why I said it’s easier to have people paying on iOS for foss

There are no apk to just avoid stores

There is. Look at openstreetmap for example, or Audiobookshelf, there is a lot.

The Way Home. It’s a pixel-art roguelite made in Godot. It’s not open source, but the author did a hell of a good job making it 1-hand playable, and pretty fun to boot.
