I think we might have too much technology. Our kettle, rice cooker, washer, and dryer all sing elaborate songs to let us know they’re done.
My toaster and kettle don’t beep … now that I think about it, I don’t have any device that actually beeps when it’s done.
my stove does at temp. my fridge will if its open. microwave of course. as someone says a smoke alarm. can’t think of anything more but I am sorta a luddite nowadays.
My fridge is far too old for beeping, my stove is pretty new but doesn’t do any beeps for base functions (maybe if I used the oven’s timer function, but I can’t be bothered to learn how that works), and my kitchen is far too small for stuff like microwaves or rice cookers (wouldn’t even know where to store a rice cooker when I’m not using it …).
My oven makes a click noise when it has reached temperature, not sure if that is intentional sound design or just inherent to the mechanism. They could probably have made it noiseless if they wanted to, so I suppose it’s doing the equivalent of a beep?
yeah unfortunately our fridge crapped out. the new one has wifi. WTF!
smoke detector with dead battery that peeps once every five minutes
Please post the comics directly instead of just links to them
How does that work? Do I still use the url and I choose thread or do I like have to get it as an image or something because im not sure im going to save it to my computer and then pull it back up. I mean whats the point of a url option if its not what we are supposed to use???
URL posts are for text articles.
I mean, yeah you save it and then upload a copy to Lemmy as the post. That way people can actually see the post when scrolling instead of having to follow a link to somewhere else just to read it.
if someone wants to do that great but no im not doing that three step process.
I’m not sure how you’re getting “save image -> upload as post” to be a three step process, but OK…
because posting is a one step process and one plus two is three. I get its more convenient for you to read it in the other method but its more convenient to me to post it in my method. Feel free to post it if you like with your method. I am a bit concerned with how images are saved on the fediverse. I believe it uses up resources on the users instance but it may be on the community instance. Im honestly a text biased person myself.
Just so folks know the comment is from the site of the comic artist and is usually her but sometimes her husband who actually took a year off at one point to go all in on comic business. I find this amazing as I would very much be the opposite worrying about the need for a regular income. I know this because the comic is basically a diary for the artist.
