

Wrong, the Americans desperately wanted war with Japan.
The oil embargo was practically a declaration of war.
They deliberately moved their fleet to indefensible Pearl Harbor in the middle of nowhere as a juicy target.
America was already a superpower at that time.
And it cost the Soviets the role as possible superpower since they almost singlehandedly beat the Germans at great cost.
All in all a great tactical play by the US, if not cold and cynical.
Definitely, only difference is here you don’t get banned at the speed of light if your opinion doesn’t fit the group.
