Remember when tap-to-pay was new and didn’t work at a lot of places and some people were freaked out over it?
And now most of us use it without a 2nd thought.
I speculate passkeys will be like that.

Written by the assistant to the manager, no doubt.
I’m embarrassed that I liked that guy in the 90s.
Humor can be hard to explain (and explaining it sometimes makes it less funny).
I think what makes crepes funnier than grapes is the American association of crepes with sophistication and “fancy restaurants”. The juxtaposition of the genteel with an embarrassing demise is funny to some people. Especially with the woman looking on with vague disapproval, as if the choking man is commiting a faux pas.
A joke like this definitely won’t land for everyone. I find it mildly amusing, but not that funny.
I had similar thoughts. Someone more knowledgeable would probably call them “healthcare professionals”, or “healthcare practitioners”, not “doctors and nurses”.
And you’re right, as important as they are, they can’t do their jobs without the infrastructure you’re pointing out. Power and water are more essential, as they enable everyone all of the time. And waste piling up would create serious problems fairly quickly.
This reminds me of the Silo series, where every level thinks they keep the Silo running.

Paid an electrician to fish ethernet for me from my utility closet where the router is to my home office. Was well worth the expense. WiFi is great, and I use it for all the other devices in the house. But I work from home most days, and I got tired of the random slow-downs and drops.
Don’t forget the pedant. No matter which one you choose, they will “correct” your choice for you.
Seems like maybe another trope is a character refusing to eat when they are upset or grieving. This happens in real life, too, of course. But it’s kind of a frequent go-to for writers.
The literal-minded still struggling with figurative speech, I see.
I hope she takes half his stuff.
I suspect 90% of them don’t care. The 10% that do care already judged me as soon as I walked in.
Sideline interviews.
3 Body Problem vibes.
Good grief that link is a long list of gatekeeping BS for frikkin’ hotdogs. I hate ketchup on a hotdog, but it doesn’t bother me if someone else likes it. Why try to boss the world? Let people enjoy things.
I am interpreting the top half as play fantasy games all day and not actually live in olden times.
Interesting, I didn’t know it costs extra in some places. TIL.
