Thanks. The T-BB18 is definitely bigger than the modern m575. And even though I don’t have huge hands, it is still more comfortable to me. I made an ergonomic stand for it, too. Totally copied the concept from one somebody did for the m570, but it had to be bigger and have completely different mounting.

I’ve had mine since 2004. I’ve replaced the cord 3 times, and designed a 3D printed replacement scroll wheel for it. It’s still going strong.

I loved lockdown. I had so much stuff in my chest freezer I got to use, we both lost a bunch of necessary weight due to actually following serving sizes. I beat like, three games in my backlog. Didn’t have to visit anybody, didn’t have to leave the house. I worked from home, and worked enough to pay off my student loans and buy two luxury watches. Plus donate to my alma mater’s fund for students stuck on campus. That was after my month long furlough, that is. Where I spent my time baking and cleaning and painting and every week I trimmed my facial hair into worse and worse creations to annoy my wife. We got an inflatable hot tub. I set up a project in the basement. We got a dog. It was one of the best years of my adult life.

Only downside is my grandma died.

Right. When I was interviewing people, I honestly couldn’t care less about the CV. I’m an engineer, words are hard. I want a list of your skills, your software proficiencies, and a run-down of your previous jobs along with your responsibilities. When you get here, I’m going to care about finding out how much you know about designing and cad. Then we’ll take a tour of the shop to see if the machinery we build is in your comfort zone. We’ll have some small talk to get a feel for if you’d fit in with the group, and off you’ll go. All said and done, it should be under 45 minutes.

It worked fine for me, I’ve landed three jobs that way. That was a while ago though, the last time was in 2017. My last two jobs I took because I had some connections call out of the blue. I’ve been very fortunate in that regard. I can’t imagine that would happen again, most of my connections are getting close to retirement age at this point.
