I used to live way outside of town and there weren’t any night buses on weekdays, so I got a moped at 15. I just didn’t drink at all when I hung out with friends on weekdays, even when I turned 16 and it became legal, because I had to drive. It wasn’t hard to do and nobody batted an eye. So, the alternative is not drinking. Having no alternative transport is a poor excuse for drunk driving.

Under capitalism, copyrights are a necessary tool for people to get paid for their labour in some cases. That’s not the most common usecase for copyrights, but a needed one until we get a better system. Fuck copyrights being used for corporate greed though. Somehow, more people are against the former than the latter, which is super wrong. But it’s not a reason to be against the former in addition to being against the latter.

I’m both like you and a fidgeter myself. It sucks. I do try to fidget subtlely- I like rubbing my fingernails with the thumb of the same hand.

Not questioning that you can die of nicotine overdose! I mean, you can die from water overdose. More wondering what the LD50 was, and if the butt of one cigarette was enough to be lethal.

I have fun with my nails, I don’t see them as expected/socially required maintenance. In my field it’s actually seen as less professional to have long nails, especially in noticable polish. I get excited when I get to work from home for a week because that means I can go crazy with nails and makeup.

Microwaving some soy milk and stirring in some powder isn’t exactly ‘make’

You 100% are judged on your looks. As someone who’s assigned female though, and usually lets interviewers read them as such initially, I have something to add.

There’s a VERY specific type of look women have to have in order to be seen as professional. You have to be as flawless as possible, but you also have to be understated. Any ‘fun’ type of femininity is looked down on. The long lashes, long nails and red lips definitely fall in that category. ‘Professional’ for women means you have to spend a lot of time and money on skin, makeup, jewelry, nails, hair, clothing, but you can’t have fun with it.*

Personally I’m in stem academia, where it’s expected that you look like you don’t spend any time on your appearance at all. Otherwise it’ll be assumed you can’t keep up with the men. Still can’t have, for example, body hair though.

*Unless you happen to have fun with nude colours and understated jewelry and fashion. Nothing wrong with that!

I have autistic sensory issues and the cheapest one I can at all tolerate to have on my skin is 15€ for 50ml. I have so many of the 5-10€ bottles at home and can’t handle any of them. Fml
