Nixon (also Reagan and Johnson) severely damaged it, Trump is just the end stage.
I just think it’s a matter of the crowd Lemmy has attracted. The circumstances of Lemmy’s creation and growth aren’t exactly conducive to being full of fun loving people.
The thing is, we know Nintendo does have in-house developed emulators that they used for Virtual Console and then NSO and the Classic Edition.
It’s fairly likely they didn’t take the effort to port those to PC for the museum, but still.
NYC, San Francisco, and Santa Monica did it. A lawsuit Airbnb put forth to to block it in NYC got dismissed even.
Minecraft is mostly popular with people who were 5 - 12 years old 10 years ago.
I mean, the government not using a heavy hand in switching us to metric (not that it doesn’t use a heavy hand in other things) is the reason we never did. The law was passed, but nobody cared, so we never switched.
Fate is only difficult for people who are adamant about watching adaptations. And even though I do think the UBW anime at least reaches the threshold of “good,” it’s still inferior.
I thought it was “want you in my room when the baby is sick” until today
Star Wars belongs firmly in the “science fantasy” category; it’s a work that draws on both sci-fi and fantasy tropes.

USA is Easy mode. It’s just that Western Europe, Australia, Japan, and Canada are Very Easy mode.
American TV and movies after the '00s. Not representative enough of normal American life to be relatable (which is why I like '90s and '00s American TV so much) and not original enough to be interesting (which is why I’m into anime.)
Uncommon in my culture: Makoto (disclaimer: I think Makoto might still be more common in my culture than my real name)
Uncommon in general: Kitty
I’m not sure I’d call this “cheaping out” but unless you can’t even afford that or you have a specific reason you need a more expensive one, you should buy mid-range ($200 - $400) phones. The early '10s are over and mid-range is more than adequate for the average phone user. Plus quite a few mid-ranges still have expandable storage and/or headphone jacks.
I think it’s a coin flip. You could point to ten reasons it’s “obvious” Trump will win and I could give you ten reasons it’s “obvious” he won’t.
A problem with these kind of alternative websites (not just the Fediverse but definitely including it) is that their users often have conflicting desires for their website to grow as big as the original while also wanting to maintain a smaller and usually smarter (or at least more techy) userbase, dreading the idea of an eternal September.
Personally I get it, but I think mass adoption of the federated model would ultimately do more for the world. Lemmy being small might be better for talking about combatting the corporations, but Lemmy becoming the norm over Reddit (which I’ll admit I think is unlikely and certainly carries it’s own issues to figure out) would actually weaken the corporations.
So many of the people who are most invested in federation are a contradiction in terms; centralized social media is evil and it’s fucked up that it’s the norm, but also anyone who isn’t a cynical, crotchety Gen Xer with a tech degree doesn’t belong on federated social media.
