How cold is it in your area ? How long is your commuting ?

For a 20 mn ride I use ski gloves that I already had under 10°C with undergloves when <5°C, it is enough for whole winter here.

If you have a long commute and far below freezing conditions you may consider heating gloves, or check in motorbike gloves

Is it easy to repair a flat tire, on a belt bike?

By easy, I mean at home with basic tools, not at roadside on a rainy night.

That is my main worry about belt and internal gearbox bikes (I have flats quite often even with new tires)

There is no regulation for ebikes in the US?

Here if the ebike goes >15mph it is like any other vehicle (must have insurance and plate) and is not allowed on bike lanes.

Of course uber drivers and many others people use home made set-up on their bike which exceed legal regulations and drive recklessly but heh that’s an other problem.

I got a bike for <10km flat trips (30 min).

An ebike for longer (10-20km), or hilly, or carrying stuffs trips, or very hot days.

A trailer for groceries.

And I don’t like to exercise! But I clearly saw an improvement on my physical and mental health.

My wife as her car for longer trips or when we have to move all family.

Thing is we have a fairly good bike infrastructure (bike lanes everywhere and some bike roads), but not good enough for kids or people who are afraid to share road with cars.

We need more bike-friendly roads (low speed on separated lanes), and make people conscious that car is not mandatory most of time.

don’t forget to tell all your colleagues, friends and family how scared you are when a car goes a little too fast, a little too close, maybe they’ll think of you when they see a cyclist and be more careful.
