I’m saying ‘we’- humans, don’t enter in to it at all. Knowledge and prediction are human things. I’m saying they don’t apply to the universe itself which is what is running things. The state of things is what it is, irrespective of ourselves. We humans will never know enough to be able to predict perfectly, but that doesn’t mean the matter and nature aren’t running deterministicly.
I have 2x Tplink EAP 610 access points. Linking back to an Opnsense virtualized router. The APs are great and Omada is fantastic - I’m running it in a docker container with no cloud access required.
I would go all Omada if I could but that would mean I’d need 3 POE Omada switches and I cant justify that cost at the moment.
The uncertainty principle says what the limits are on our knowledge of a given scenario, not that the universe which is running the show has such a limit.
We can’t predict it because we can’t possibly know everything. But unpredictably isn’t the same as randomness or implies nondeterministic behaviour.
I would say deterministic rather than predictable.
I think the universe is deterministic and that there isn’t something inside our heads that bypasses determinism and creates free will.
Unpredictability is not the same as free will.

RAID is 100% about uptime, not backups. If you want less downtime then RAID is your friend.

No. The less code for a given set of functionality the better… often. Removing functionality just to reduce code is daft. Otherwise stop adding any features. Remove all features of the kernel until machines only just boot. Lot less code!
But that’s true of all code in the kernel. If any change can break something then all broken bits will need fixing. Why not remove all drivers in case an update breaks them. Things can’t be preemptively fixed before breaking changes are made. A driver can be complete and only need updating if someone else breaks stuff, so leave it alone until then and only remove it I’d no one comes to fix it.

Why clear them out if they still work and are useful? Seems like a backwards step. What’s that phrase that people throw about:sometimes things are just done and don’t need changing.
I was meant to be Better FS, but it corrupted it to btrfs without noticing.
I think it has more issues than just with raid 5 &6!
I’ve never heard anyone say ZFS broke, corrupted their data or failed in any way at all. With btrfs it’s a consistent complaint. And btrfs literally has modes of operation that are known to be broken. I could understand if it was a new file system, but it can almost drink in pubs.
So, what you’re saying is, “it works on my machine”
I was meaning their switches. I didn’t know they did routers / firewalls. Interesting that they’re not as advanced as their other offerings which are really good. My opnsense setup has taken years to hone and I have no desire to start over with that.
