I’m a huge proponent for inflation adjusted livable minimum wage- which should be close to $30 an hour these days. Also hugely worried about our housing cost trends.

I’m only pointing out that expecting games to cost 40-60 for life is a little silly- yall still paying $.10 for a loaf of bread? I remember when games inched from $40 to $60 and everyone lost their minds- no one complains about it anymore. Don’t wanna pay retail? Wait for sales, bundles, used copies.

Yeah I’m familiar with server- I was asking if you were using official client apps or third party.

Jellyfin have native apps that are any good? I use plex heavily on ps5, appleTV, iOS, and people’s random smart TVs, all of which have really good first class apps. I also support users that are not technically inclined, so they would need to be able to just install and app and log in.

I really doubt switch 2 games will emulate at all or well for quite some time.

I get the money argument. In that case, get the one that does more for you now now, and save up for the other one later. You don’t need them all at once.

I waited a year before getting the first switch, and almost 2 years for a ps4. I think I waited at least a year for all the other PlayStations too save the 5.

Getting something at launch isn’t all that great- bugs, limited games, max prices, etc… a year or so later and you get bundles and deals and lots of game choices.

I don’t have a deck- but a few of my friends do and I’ve played with it a bit- it’s great and I want one at some point, but I can wait for #2 to come out and then go on sale before I dive in.

I really truly don’t think so. While there is some overlap, I would never give my 5 yo a steam deck and tell them to just figure it out. And on a steam deck, I’d be really sad to not have any Mario kart, Zelda, etc…

I don’t see the problem with having both- they fill different niches.

You took me a little bit too literally- I was illustrating a point. People have comparably giant displays compared to the 90’s and yet still treat them as single small displays.

It sounds like people in your workspace haven’t discovered opening multiple windows side by side.

I’ve found people in the windows world often make everything full screen all the time- such a waste. You have a 40” 6k display and you open a single giant word doc.

You could have 3 or more documents open side by side- or a webpage for reference, a notepad, and your work or 1000 other combinations.

I do development work so my workflow is extremely text heavy, but it’s rare that I don’t have 4+ windows open simultaneously per display. I also use an old dell monitor I had laying around rotated 90 degrees as others mentioned for log monitoring or chat threads.

I think people just need to get more creative using their space- it’s not the monitor’s fault if you don’t fill it with stuff.

You can’t get faster than instant- so if something is already instant, it wont improve. Also, 16GB ram isn’t exactly rocking the boat, workstations have 64-1024GB of ram these days.

I feel like all this visual upgrading kinda missed the point of Minecraft. It’s like colorizing black and white movies.
