You will get nasty letters if you torrent on Starlink without a VPN and they may disconnect you. It’s CGNAT, so performance will be crap without a VPN since you can’t use port forwarding. The upload is rather slow, so you may want to consider a seedbox, especially if you use private trackers.
I get around 10 hours of web browsing or video playback on my T480 with integrated graphics and the extended battery. It would be a couple hours longer if it had fresh batteries.
The reader may need a kernel module loaded. I have an old laptop with a built in Realtek PCIe card reader that requires the rtsx_pci_sdmmc module to be manually loaded.
If it is a PCIe card reader, it should have shown up in lspci even without the module loaded though.
Have you checked the BIOS settings to make sure it hasn’t been disabled there?
If the card reader is built in, it may show up as /dev/mmcblk0.
Just don’t use RAID 5 or 6, it’s still under development and not ready for use yet.
Btrfs has snapshots. They can be created instantly and don’t use any extra space until the files are changed.
Unless the drive gets corrupted or infected with malware, you can just load a previous snapshot. That’s much faster and easier than reinstalling.
The U6+ will nearly max out gigabit with a 160MHz channel. The U7 Pro can provide higher speeds, but keep in mind there is only room for a single 240MHz channel on 5GHz. You will need 2.5G ethernet to take advantage of the higher speeds.
Interference from any other WiFi networks within your channel will slow things down a lot though. That makes running with channels wider than 80MHz difficult if there are any other networks in range.
My access points are AC Lite and and U6 Lite. Those are discontinued though.
If I get more for inside, I would probably get the U6+. I am also thinking about getting one of the AC Mesh access points for outside. I’m not too worried about speed since anything that needs high speed is wired. I don’t have any neighbors, so I have all the bands to myself. If you are in an urban area, you should probably consider one with 6GHz support.
I use the Unifi access points. They work well and are fairly inexpensive. The management software can change settings on all of them at once, which is really handy if you have several.

MKVToolNix will work even if the file is not MKV. It will just remux it to MKV.
Yes, Wine doesn’t support USB passthrough. You would need a VM for that.
Software running in Wine is not accessing your mouse or keyboard directly, so it doesn’t matter how they are connected as long as they work in Linux.
It sounds like Valve is going to release SteamOS, so there could be a number of handhelds with Linux pre-installed soon.
Wine doesn’t support USB. Unless the peripheral connects over a serial or parallel port, you will have to use a virtual machine.
You can put a separate Wine prefix for each game on your NAS and use a launcher like Lutris to run the games. You can share the Wine prefix between multiple computers. Newer games that require a SSD probably won’t work well over the network though.
It works fine with my AMD GPU. Good luck with NVIDIA though.
The private DNS function is also very useful if you manually set it to an ad blocking DNS server.
That will be more likely as more people start using SteamOS.
If SteamOS can get enough users, then not supporting it will start to hurt the game developers profits.
