I think Lemny needs to be pitched to more independent communities as a way to provide a forum to their members while being connected to the rest of the Internet. For example, game developers should make lemmy instances for their game communities so they can host a forum and not be subjected to the whims of Reddit. Non profits and guilds as well.

Exactly. Saying it’s a problem when playing video games doesn’t mean that it isn’t a problem anywhere else. For office jobs specifically, there is already plenty of awareness being spread and most offices give out onboarding material that gives tips on stretches you can do and on how to have a more ergonomic setup.

To be fair, lots of companies specifically point out ergonomics and give out onboarding materials with suggestions on exercises to do and office setup best practices.

Awareness is important, and most office jobs already raise awareness about it. I think the only time I’ve seen it in video games were those take a break reminders I’ve seen in some Nintendo games.

This exact kind of situation does happen all the time. I don’t believe it’s a majority of men at all, but even if it’s a small percentage, that’s still a lot because of the magnitude of their actions. Even if it’s only a 5% chance that rejecting a guy is going to cause them to go completely off the rails, you’re still not going to want to take that chance because there’s nothing in it for you, and in those 5% of cases it’s going to be extremely upsetting, or in some cases, actually physically dangerous to you.

Why would you remember guys being like this if you’re not a woman? Obviously you would not experience this situation if you were never in this situation because you’re a man. This interaction is going to happen where you don’t see them. Just ask some women around you if they’ve ever been scared by the response of a man they rejected. You’ll find that the majority of women have.

Are you being sarcastic? Because there are. It doesn’t take a majority to make it make women scared to be honest, just a few percentage and a few really bad experiences will make you scared.

You need to touch grass and talk to more women if you don’t know that most women have experiences exactly like this.

Wouldn’t the best term be mercantilism? Power through the accumulation of wealth, but instead of nations it’s now corporations. It’s definitely not capitalist since capitalism is about having competition, and that doesn’t happen without constant government intervention to break up monopolies and trusts.

Honestly, I’m not against ads, I understand that a site with free articles needs to pay the bills somehow. The reason I use ad block is that online ads have become so intrusive that it makes websites unusable, and the way they track you is way over the line. If ads didn’t completely destroy the experience of reading a website and were reasonable in the data they collected I probably wouldn’t bother with ad block.
