Maybe I’ll switch to Mastadon. I find myself going back to Reddit as often as using Lemmy these days, so maybe it’s time.

I suspect everyone switching won’t solve the problem. Seems unavoidable that open-access, anonymous social media will be a target for propaganda any time it becomes popular. If everyone leaves for Mastadon, the shills and their LLMs will move over there.

The communism is a facade for their propaganda, and it also bolsters extremist discourse. Win-win for them.

Lemmy.ml communism is mostly just a facade for spreading propaganda to useful idiots. If they were real communists I’d have some respect for them.

Lemmy.ml spreads a lot of propaganda/disinformation, has opaque and questionable moderation, and regularly advocates for violence.

That’s great! I really hope the fediverse can replace corporate slop social media, and I think people coming here and not getting turned off by those bad instances is key.

I use tags often, but I don’t block, I use it to track accounts spreading disinformation.

Same, I haven’t told a soul I use it despite being active here over a year. I still believe in it though (or just really hate the idea of accepting corporate social media).

I think they’re paid to spread disinformation (or run LLMs that spread it) that makes “the West” look bad and their authoritarian leaders (CCP, Kremlin) look good.

So if someone mentions Tiananmen Square they delete it or lie about it, or say “what about Mk ultra,” but not because they actually believe in anything other than getting paid.
