  • I recently copied all my files from my SD-Card (“formatted as Internal Storage”) to a safe location, then copied those files to the “Internal storage” part of the rom that opens up after the SD-Card was gone. It worked. on Android 10. Maybe that change was later. Android storage looks weird from the outside anyway. It was as if only the publically visible files Apps want you to see got on the SD-Card, and then each app has some hidden folder (that apps like termux or apps with custom-built file pickers sometimes kind of let you half-guess the structure of (my head: no details) and) that appeared to have been on the built-in rom all along. That copy operation now lets me remove my SD Card w/o moving all my Images and less than half of my apps files. </irrelevant-context>

I really want to know why they implemented a piece of software that’s this complicated in assembly. Is it just speed? Then I also want to know what all the great numbers of video codecs I have just uncovered after clicking on “the input format must be .y4m” in their Readme. Since OP seem to know about the 306 options of the official AOM encoder a little, and rav1e also sounds rather CLI-heavy, this also gets my uneducated head wondering where these products are used. Do other app developers drop it in like ffmpeg? Probably. It also sounds like Disney & Co. just have some servers that they have scripted to “encode the corporate fortune”. How true is this?

  • I’ve been thinking: if we’re a nice kind of government, couldn’t we just print the money we’re going to use to for example, give americans in poverty 10000$ ? This would “just devalue the money the rich people have”, so something about international exchange rates is propably the thing that stops me from mentally circumventing the freedom-based value that we can’t just take money people have earned. really gross food for thought
