I occasionally listen to a podcast that reviews basically any and all movies that are adapted from comics and they take their name from the exact issue you mentioned, Not Another Origin Story. I guess it shows that even among the people that really enjoy and are passionate about superhero movies constantly redoing the origin is a tired act.

A lesson I learned from Double Fine.

For me, one drive somehow got out of sync on one location and proceeded to delete a bunch of files without notification or interaction on my part. I know my case is probably very rare but I just have never been able to bring myself to trust them again.

If they were just being informative they wouldn’t have led with “yeah it does”. Or they would have phrased it differently.

This take always seems a bit myopic as it ignores the fact that it cements in the exclusivity that already existed. Not allowed to change an established character’s race? Only option is to tack on a new character to the already existing cast and that certainly doesn’t seem like pandering. Of course maybe the new inclusive characters should only be in new content that isn’t established and has no following.

It is really a punchline. Also it isn’t predicated on the reader’s reaction being transphobia. The reader could simply be aware that transphobia exists and is a common reaction to the familiar situation she depicted. You don’t need to self insert as literally one of the characters in the comics you read. She isn’t saying that you are transphobe or that she is incredible. She is making a comment about how parents and society’s reaction to a trope situation is changing.
