I suspect this is a natural result of having much more limited time as we become adults. I used to love all kinds of games too, but today if I feel like a game doesn’t respect my time it gets thrown right onto the “no thanks” pile.

This is what keeps me from being a pc gamer.
I was also born in ‘84; the 90’s were pretty rad though for a kid so the doom and gloom didn’t really start until around 9/11 for me.
I mean, ATP has only been around for two years, mastodon has been around for 8 years with 6 years of development on AP.
Development takes time, I feel like “show it to me now or it’s a lie” is a poor take.

You’re welcome.
Careful now, “good faith” is religiously charged and implies that God is the source of all good intent, you’re gonna set this person off with that.
(/s hopefully obviously)
I’m definitely making fun of the original post. “Your phone is bad and you should feel bad based on this cherry picked set of metrics” is one of the dumbest debates of all time. Right up there with “my OS is better than your OS”.
Let people like what they like.
But if we don’t make the kind of phone we use our entire identity how will we know who we’re totally better than?
That monster. Goosebumps was a foundational part of my lifelong love of reading.
Not a nurse but I worked a lot of manual labor jobs that had me on my feet moving all day (e.g., home renovation work) and I can say that your body eventually gets used to that kind of work and the soreness becomes a persistent dull ache that honestly isn’t bad. Kinda like if you just work out daily.
Nursing may be different, and my experience may not apply, but I would think that you will get used to it.
Honestly the only thing I never got used to was standing in one place at retail work. Standing all day in the same spot is not natural and the body rejects it.
Seems like a pretty reasonable trade off haha.
I don’t have hard feelings towards the kids or anything, I just don’t really connect with them enough to want to hang out.
Living the dream. I gave up on finding guilds in online games because it’s always a bunch of kids I just can’t relate to.
All good reasons to make a decision, I’m not trying to sway anyone in a direction.
I just feel bad when people see drama in a community and wonder if that thing is “safe”. I’ve seen this kind of thing many times before in other communities—PERL, Python, Ruby, Rust, etc—and it never seems to lead to sweeping changes the normal user would notice. It’s pretty safe to assume that day-to-day users of thing can just carry on if they don’t care about the community upset.
It’s probably wise to simply ignore the drama. Open source seems to invite this at the “top” for whatever reason, but for the casual user there is usually little to no impact.
Unless you’re trying to be a top contributor to nix, I would just carry on with normal usage and all the current drama will blow over.
That makes total sense lol
I don’t understand this. Why would you take a commonly used vowel off of the home row and put it where you have to shift your whole hand to get to it? What am I missing?
Such as? If you have a reasonably priced OLED dumb tv with HDR and 120FPS up your sleeve you will be my favorite internet friend.
Game consoles.
I wish there were more high quality dumb TVs. Most of the dumb TVs I can find today are both very expensive and lack the features I’m looking for like HDR and 120hz+ frame rates.
I know the argument is that the privacy invasions are subsidizing the cost of the TV but I have yet to see non-anecdotal evidence of that and suspect that the price of the TV would be the same either way because the market will only support so much expense.
Yes please.
