Usually it’s a case of a well thought out decent post, but then you scroll down to comments and it’s “men are trash” and etc, so you end up with a bunch of fighting, which detracts from the original point.
Prolly would be better if “comments on this are disabled” was more common practice.
Or if administrative systems actually punished people heavily for saying stuff like “(any group of people) are trash”
I’ve been looking for th8s for awhile too.
Not a locally run tool, but a self hosted web app (that I wire up to my self hosted db) that has a web portal I login to, and then can manage my db with a nice slick UI to define tables, relations, etc.
There’s been some I’ve found but they vastly lacked basic features and were clearly in very early beta.
I use Hugo, it’s not super complicated.
You basically just define templates in pseudo html for common content (header, nav panel, footer, etc), and then you write your articles in markdown and Hugo combines the two and outputs actual html files.
You also have a content folder for js, css, and images which get output as is.
That’s about all there is to it, it’s a pretty minimalist static site generator.
Hosting wise you can just put it on github pages for free.

Architecture as code is amazing, being able to completely wipe your server, re-install fresh, and turn it on and it goes right back to how it was is awesome.
GitOps version controlled architecture is easy to maintain, easy to rollback, and easy to modify.
I use k8s for my entire homelab, it has some initial learning curve but once you “get it” and have working configs on github, it becomes so trivial to add more stuff to it, scale it up, etc.
The fact that they prioritized Helluva Boss (which does follow that type of storyline), on their own YouTube (which they have control over), whereas Hazbin was put onto Amazon Prime with only 8 episodes honestly is what I think caused it.
My gut instinct was to assume they had to agree to certain conditions to get onto Amazon Prime and the money from that is what got us Helluva Boss (which if you haven’t watched that, it’s so fuckin good)
It’s a musical, the songs are catchy.
However I disliked how fast paced the writing was, and how even though it’s called “Hazbin Hotel” and the pilot framed it as a sort of slice of life “bunch weirdos” hanging out and getting redemption, instead that weirdly became the B plot?
Somehow they took the whole story and shifted it over to the B plot and pulled this other big high stakes thing out as the A plot.
That’s not really what I was wanting to watch, and it feels a bit like they hit swapped out the story on me, so I kinda got a bit turned off by that.
I don’t give a shit about some high stakes angels vs demons war end game shit.
I wanted to see interpersonal relationships of weirdos learning to co-exist.
Tl;dr: I was expecting something closer to The Good Place, but instead that got side lined by some huge MCU style plot no one asked for.

I use neorg for neovim, specifically I use:Neorg journal today to open up a daily .Norge file that I maintain notes, todo, etc on.

For casual users I typically recommend using Cinnamon Desktop, it’s the most Windows-esque UI and will be the easiest for them to pick up and use.
I roll with Cinnamon on Ubuntu and it’s been extremely painless, very simple to get stuff do and shit just works.

I have been using Reolink RC-522s outside in the harsh Canadian cold winters. Even at -40 they kept working and their quality hasn’t degraded.
I tried out q few options for NVR software, and I’ve settled on Frigate NVR, it was pretty painless to setup and “just worked”.
Shinobi I found worked at first but three times it shit the bed, silently failed one day, and just stopped working. I’d wipe and re-install and it’d just fail after awhile. Frigate has never had this issue so far.
I use Power over Ethernet for the cameras, so i only had to run 1 single cable (ethernet) to each camera outside, no need to run high voltage which makes it way easier to install.
I use a small mini itx PC as the NVR with a 960ti installed in it for transcoding.
I have a fancy managed 48 port gigabit poe switch which is overkill for just cameras (I have tonnes of other PoE devices on my network as well justifying it), but any “dumb” gigabit poe switch will work for you, as long as you have enough ports for your cameras.
I personally use kubernetes for my machines running self hosted apps, but for most folks that’s overkill abd you can just use docker compose!
What CLI tools do you find have install problems on Powershell?
Everything I’ve used can be installed “headless”, often using winget now.
But powershell just sucks and windows file system is cumbersome, so limux is still better.
So far any use case I’ve solved with just SSH.

You realize the game isn’t actually fun, it’s pretty boring. The only driving force of the ad is your frustration at watching a person fuck up the game on purpose.
People made faithful clones and it became painfully obvious its not actually interesting or fun, and you quickly get pretty bored of it. There’s not much skill involved.
I havent had any issues with Plex so far, so I continue to use it. Ive definitely looked into jellyfin and it doesnt seem painful to swap over, but at the moment there hasnt been a compelling reason to make the switch.
I put media in my folder, plex scans it by the time I sit on my couch, I click button, show plays. No issues to speak of so far.
The core if it boils down to, when emulating older machines, is the consoles processor speaks language A, and our computers all speak language B
The emulator has to translate back and forth between A<->B faster than the speed the original processors would’ve just spoken A
So translating A<->B is a way tougher task than just reciting A. So you need a tremendously better CPU than what the console had to emulate it.
It’s kinda like, Dropping a rock in a pile of sand is easy. Simulating dropping that rock into the pile of sand in real time accurately is really challenging.
