  • This kind of pisses me off whenever people complain about YouTube pushing ads or charging money. It’s absolutely insane how much storage and bandwidth the amount of video hosted and uploaded every second requires. How could it possibly free?!

Bundled with YouTube Music it’s even extremely good value.
Spotify premium costs USD15.36 in my country.
YouTube premium, including YouTube music USD19.58.
That’s USD4.23 for no ads where I watch the most videos. Absolute no brainer in my opinion.

My previous job included basic it support. It was a tiny office and we didn’t have a dedicated IT guy. Now I work in a big corporate environment and boy do I use the support. Why?

    1. Admin rights, my account (all accounts) are locked down tight.
    2. Convincing the computer of working like it should be is not what I’m paid for. I have a never ending task list, troubleshooting my own system is not on it.
    3. I get to sit and watch and do nothing while someone remotes in.

    I’m sorry.

  • First of I run linux on my personal machine.
Second, I shut down my work machine at the end of the day and if there is an update - let it update. The result? Not a single problem with windows updates in years! Strange, I know.

Sidenote: I always thought people were partially making fun of windows updates because you have to reboot all the time. I have to log out to switch from integrated to dedicated graphics in Linux and pretty much 90% of all updates require a reboot. And to conserve battery I have to shut down the laptop anyway, since hibernation is but a dream. But whatever, it’s not a competition.

  • It’s a shitty Synology Nas with extreme slow speeds. That’s only amplified by slow upload speeds when I’m not in my local network.

The main difference, and that’s also the difference to the way Gnome handles cloud storage like GDrive, is that I don’t want a network storage. I want integration into my file system, and I want automatic upload of what I’m working on. And I want the ability to say: this directory needs to be available offline. Without having to copy it from my nas to local storage and back again.

  • Yeah and while Elon is the fucking worst I assume not everyone knows that he is the Tesla man. It’s incredible actually how much he’s intertwined with the brand. I would totally buy a Toyota or whatever and I couldn’t tell you the name of their CEO, nor of any other car manufacturer, nor would I look up who they are beforehand.

Granted the poster above is on Lemmy so I assume he knows more about musky boy than he would like.
