Seems kind of extreme to suggest such a drastic scenario. The possibilities are more numerous than either he’s 100% fine or dead (which, btw, you are the one “putting that into the universe). I wouldn’t guess that’s what people were thinking… rather that perhaps he was in ill health, had lost interest or had other projects that were taking priority, perhaps due to practical financial considerations. Thankfully Ernest has posted an update answering this question, and he says while he has been hindered by some health circumstances recently, things are basically on track.

It seems like they should have sold it. Or just jammed in a bunch of ads… maybe an option to remove ads with a paid membership. Simply killing it doesn’t make any money other than to avoid losing more, and they’d already invested a fair bit which you can’t recoup by just closing something. Of course, Google does that all the time I guess.

Twitter clearly mishandled it. All they needed to do was give the option to post longer videos. Classic example of a large company buying a small innovative service and destroying it for no reason. I assume they thought it was too similar and in competition with Twit’s existing ability to post videos.

Does it have better features or interface for it than kbin? I’ve tried using microblogs on kbin but I find it sorta confusing.

It appears to be a work by an artist named Matt Eskuche, made from white glass. He has made a series of glass themed after “trash”, like replicas of crushed soda bottles and cans, and started making pipes at some point.

In general, the anti-apple cult is much stronger than the supposed pro-apple cult. I haven’t seen people really give that much of a fuck about apple positively in years but if you prefer an iphone, some people insist you’re obsessed with them.

I had this dream in 2010 (not literally a dream, just a notion) that someday, we’d replace desktops with phones… like, sit down at a desk, attach it to a dock, it would connect to a monitor, mouse and keyboard and you could use it like a desktop PC. I suppose we could already do that, other than that the software would still be phone apps not made to be used with a mouse or for the most part a landscape screen.

I don’t get why she would take her mouse to the grocery store rather than just ask her son, who installed it for her. All I could guess would be, her old mouse didn’t work so she went out and bought one?

Lemmy has enough to keep me entertained, and I did successfully finally break my years-long habit of going to reddit. However there are still some subs I look at occasionally since they can provide valuable information, like city-specific and subs about certain video games.
