I had to do this to get the factory oil filter off my motorcycle. Went through 3 different oil filter removal tools and all I achieved was rounding off all the edges of the filter.

In the US, people consider any public sector job to be working in/for the government. Judges, Legislators, the president, TSA security, Park Rangers, Cops, Clerks at the driver’s license office, etc. would all be considered government roles. Sometimes you need to clarify if you mean federal government or state government.

The president, his staff, and his political appointees are called the administration.

I imagine the people who actually think about how they are working just for basic needs are mostly a different group of people than those yelling about freedom.

I don’t know how many conservatives wake up in the morning with the feeling that everything they do is just to make some rich guy richer until they eventually die. Because why would they be a conservative at that point?

It’s not that your nose can’t taste very much. It’s like the other three, eating a nose won’t taste very good.

You’re supposed to get to the nose and think about how it definitely wouldn’t taste good. Then you think about how it doesn’t really smell that much better than you imagine it would taste. Every place I’ve been to with a self serve soda fountain across the US has done free refills. Even a lot of places with the fountain behind the counter did free refills if you asked.

I’ve always felt like people are overblowing the pocket lint thing, since I’ve never had it happen to me. Just realized that it’s because my pockets are too small, so the only pocket I can use is my back pocket with the port sticking out.

The poorly designed feature itself isn’t about showing ads, it’s just showing the top item of the news feed. The news feed can have ads, depending on what the developer publishes to it, which is why I never scroll down to that section.

I’m fairly certain it’s attempts now that I’ve looked at it again. It’s been a long time since I’ve read breakdowns of the studies and what the numbers all mean. It wasn’t as simple as 41% of trans people attempt suicide. The numbers went down post transition and I don’t think suicide attempts had to be serious attempts to be counted (I think it’s worth nitpicking this).

Edit: Tried finding the survey the number comes from and got a bunch of different responses that are just confusing me more at this point. I’m probably done here, since researching suicide statistics isn’t a ton of fun.

It’s also not the suicide rate. It’s either the has attempted suicide at least once in their life rate or the thought about it rate. Can’t quite remember which, but definitely not the suicide rate.

It did have multiplayer. You could fight your friends if you used a Game Link.

I have a hard time imagining anyone thought that a game for a handheld console that didn’t have an internet connection would use the internet.

Mega Man was a physical robot in the original games. In Battle Network, he was now an AI in a computer and you sent him to do battle with enemy AI and viruses on networks in the game.

I wonder if where you have your account affects how you notice where the trolls are from? Like I don’t notice trolls coming from .world much because I just see a username, where a troll from .ml is username@lemmy.ml.

I think about this whenever I see someone complain about how Fahrenheit is arbitrary and how are you supposed to remember that water freezes at 32° and boils at 212°. I guess American brains are just able to retain more.

Some fridges have a water/ice dispenser built into the door. Not all American fridges have it and it’s available in other markets too.
