It has been 8 years since we lost him. Still out

I sincerely doubt anyone at that zoo didn’t suffer a severe emotional loss that day. That was an awful situation, and while I do think the zoo has the blame it is not because of their decision that day. For the employees, the death of an animal at a zoo can easily cause grief akin to the death of a family member or pet, depending on how closely they worked with the animal.

Once that child was in the enclosure they really didn’t have time to try out different options that may have aggravated Harambe. Any option, including the lethal one, presented a risk to the child. They chose the option they thought gave the best chance to save the child.

Where the zoo has blame is the design of the habitat such that a child could just crawl in. I know they’ve learned from their terrible mistake and changed the design, but they really should have known better in 2016.

That’s fair. It’s the double-edged sword of internet stardom. To me it’s about remembering a simpler time then the world was less of a mess than it is today.

Yeah with how some have been saying that this event is where things went wrong, I was surprised to see this dated to 2016. Shit was already hitting the fan at that point. People who think Harambee is where things went wrong weren’t paying attention.

Also, given the situation they were in, they made the right choice.

Imagine growing up and living with the knowledge that your mother’s gross negligence and your doing whatever toddlers are known for were the precipitating events of this degenerate level overreaction.

I have a hard time enjoying this meme because it’s dumb and unfunny. It’s peak le epic Reddit thing that we all agree to care about even if no one actually vares about that ape.

That’s just how memes work, no? Something random gets repeated and evolved. It’s funny because its a random occurrence that didn’t really affect anything. But we can play with it as if it did. Like moving a mug in a time travel movie changes the universe.

It’s an absurd and sad situation that gathered enough attention to become a meme. I for my part enjoy some Harambe memes now and then.

I never got the joke anyway. We wouldn’t go “dicks out for Navalny” or some other recently deceased famous person. It’s not very tastefull regardless

For me it was how much hate came down on the mom because her wiggly kid done did a wiggly kid and got somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be, like literally every kid has done at least once

With this character’s death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.

I post a reminder in a group chat with my friends every year. Someone today asked how the hell I remember it and I told them it’s in my calendar

I was a freshman in college that fall and someone put up flyers for a memorial dance party in his honor. They had cheap beer and loud music which was fun enough for teenage me.
