      What’s wrong with that? Without authority in the current world context, you simply get eaten alive. The DPRK has to spend a lot of resources into it’s military, much much more than then would like, because otherwise they would get fucking bombed back to the middle ages by the americans, again.

          The dprk doesn’t exist in a vacuum, many of these policies are in place due the constant state of exception the DPRK is in due to US economic sanctions and US military bases in south korea, which they perform invasion drills every single year. I very much prefer how they live than how countries live after they’re bombed the US, e.g. Libya. And i cannot imagine a well read south korean being content with their position as a vassal, like it or not, north koreans have much more actual freedom
