  • I agree in principle, and overall violent revolution is likely to be a horrible thing for many, but I think the issue for people is that they’ve tried the peaceful way and get suppressed by every system that exists. Threatening the rich isn’t about getting rid of them per se (at least it shouldn’t be, because new people will just fill the void) but about applying pressure for those with the most power to enact change to do so, hopefully leading to a less exploitative system.

It’s not that hard to keep people happy enough for them to not try to literally murder you, but if you fail at even that, you might have the drive to change it.

  • It’s just the opposite social expectation here. And honestly it bothers me not because some people do it but because it feels like american puritanism taking over online spaces because it’s even in screenshots. Like holy shit you’re quoting someone just leave the swearing in.

  • I feel like this still slightly misses the problem. I couldn’t give less of a shit whether they do or don’t make money from my data, I care that they are tracking so many things for that purpose that I can be identified and many lifestyle habits are visible, which is a problem when the data ends up with someone who wants to use it to spy on me. Which probably has never targeted me specifically, but my data is almost certainly in a tool capable of this. Because this happens frequently.

Of course this happens because they want to make money from it and sell it, but even if they only want it to idk customize my feed to make me like their website more and it never leaves their server, I’d still have to worry about data breaches. Or just someone else taking over and deciding that selling it is great, actually.

And even though I have decided that I personally don’t really care enough to deal with the downsides for quality of life, that doesn’t mean I don’t want this to stop via legal means.

  • Depending on what games you play it’s anywhere from unusable (games with incompatible anticheat) to flat out better than windows even ignoring all the surrounding bullshit. But many of these gsmes with anticheat are among the most popular games in the world, so there’s plenty of reason not to change just bc of those for a lot of people.

  • When there are 2 choices and you choose neither that is opting out of a decision, and nothing else. It’s throwing your hands up and saying “well i cant change it anyway, let’s just do nothing”.

Also, stop pretending like trumps and kamalas stances are identical. They’re not. Trump is right up there with netanyahu in seeing palestinians as subhuman.

  • And american voters also didn’t get to do anything about the palestinian genocide because there were two choices and pretending there were more is delusional at best. And the choice was between a party unwilling to take a strong stance against it vs a party actively encouraging it and saying they’d help. While also openly wanting to genocide minority groups in their own country.

Well, there is a third choice. It’s the centrist choice of either not voting or voting for an irrelevant party, equivalent to saying “let the others decide”.

The thing you’re missing here is that a lot of people are not capable of reading the animals’ body language. Hence, permit. Also the part where just taking some wild animal home as a pet isn’t ok, and to actually care for one you would usually require some pretty specialized knowledge.

I also fully agree that dogs above a certain size should require permits because holy fuck I know most of them are pretty chill and at most kinda loud but they still scare the hell out of me and I can’t trust their owners to control them in all cases. And while knowledge of how to handle them is more common, some people still fuck that up…

  • I recently got a used gaming laptop for the rare times I’m away from home for a while (next time likely for christmas) so the plan is to put linux on that from the start and see how it goes. And maybe getting diagnosed for adhd and getting on medication will mean I actually have the motivation to switch from windows before it becomes absolutely necessary, though thankfully I don’t get any start menu ads since I got rid of those with WinAeroTweaker, so I’m mostly happy with it.

Though I’ve been having some weird crashing issues that look like broken ram but aren’t, so if I end up replacing my mainboard from that (because at this point idk what else it would be) I’d likely have to reinstall windows anyway, and at that point I’d just switch.

  • I didn’t mind 7, some things I even thought were great compared to XP (like the search).

I can tolerate 10 well enough still given the de facto convenience of running windows for gaming, but the moment end of service comes around next year I’m switching to linux. I also have to use win 11 at work and it’s just infuriating how much worse it is. And conveniently Linux gaming got pretty good in the meantime, and I’ve been told I can now even set up a windows VM with GPU passthrough that activates when I start the VM for the cases where Linux just won’t work (though idk if that’ll work when the issue is anticheat, but I don’t play anything where that’s relevant anyway).

  • Honestly if you approach genshins probabilities for 5* with anything other than “50% i get at max pity, 100% at 2x max pity” you’re doing it wrong so I’d argue in that sense it’s dead simple. 4* being less guaranteed feels like a problem though, you’re not that much more likely to get the 4* you want from a banner than the 5*, and there’s no guarantee you’ll ever get it at all. And ime a LOT of people don’t realize that (though I still don’t think getting a rough idea of that is particularly complicated).

Having outright “if you spend x in game currency, you are x% likely to get the thing you want” info does seem like a reasonable requirement.

And personally the reason i spent more on genshin than any other gacha is that i had a reasonably priced guarantee instead of having to gamble at all, it felt more like buying chars for a set price with bonus loot boxes.

  • From what I’ve seen you have crossdressers self identifying as trap (a subgroup of all crossdressers and I could see how the term would be offensive to the rest as well) on one side and people that are unaware that group exists and think trap is exclusively a derogatory term for trans ppl (or think enjoying crossdressing MUST mean you’re trans) on the other.

It’s a whole mess as any offensive language tends to be, because words rarely ever only have one meaning and there’s also more than one language in the world but terms still cross from one language into others.

Honestly as long as you’re trying to be considerate of others I don’t think anyone can fault you, and that goes for everything. People will try to speak for everyone, but even when they do speak for the majority there are usually exceptions.

  • Sure, but where’s the upside? (ethically, not sure if consuming your own meat could have some sort of weird effect on you, even though afaik the usual cannibalism issues wouldn’t apply). If anything it’s more ethical to take it from yourself because you consent to it, the farm animal probably doesn’t.
