My wife and I will sit in the same room for hours and never speak a word to each other. We only talk when we have something to say, and we’re both happy with that relationship. My sister thinks we’re crazy, but we like it quiet.

I never understood the fight against nihilism, as if it’s inherently bleak. I came to the conclusion that nothing truly matters a long time ago, but that doesn’t keep me from feeling like stuff matters, and doing what matters to me. Subjective meaning can still drive you to pursue and live a good life even while you’re aware that objective meaning doesn’t exit. Happiness feels good, which is enough for me.
I’ve never had a problem starting on step 4 and repeating a few times.
Correct - forums are a place for people who talk rather than do, because those that do don’t have the time to argue online. Though I shit on all evil, regardless of some arbitrary relation to America. I don’t rely on American news outlets, I watch the global scene. It’s why I understand that America is just as bad as any of the other cartoonishly evil places in the world that people will fall for propaganda to defend.
I think we all know that anyone sitting on the computer talking about activism is here because they’re not out performing activism. This is the place of cowards who talk bigger than they are.
I live in the US, so I know first hand how having faith in anyone in a position of power will come back to bite you.
Only fight the greater evils! Lesser evils should be ignored! The cry of people who don’t understand how greater evils are created.
It makes me want to dedicate my life to fighting the US, NK, SK, and any other government that exploits its people instead of serving them.
Haha, you think I’m afraid of admitting the US is just as bad as NK? Ridiculous. Where do you think they learned it from?
This is some Made in Abyss type shit, and I’m all for it .
Unfortunately, in the twitter comments that someone linked, you can see that he still staunchly believes that Trump was the best pick, and that a vote for democrats is a vote to “trans the kids.”
Republicans have been primed to treat their own suffering as a trial they need to overcome, and that was done specifically so they wouldn’t vote in everyone’s best interests even if it’s clearly also in their own best interests.
The joke is that it’s not yucky because while yes, it shows that you shit, everybody shits, so it shouldn’t be surprising or even noteworthy. They’re using it to tie into their actual point that parents talking about sex isn’t yucky because sexuality is natural, and discussing it shouldn’t be surprising or even noteworthy. Even in the case of asexuality, it’s still a discussion that should be had.
Reread the rule @TheTechnician27@lemmy.world listed; it’s not a rule against posting AI, it’s a rule against accusing people of posting AI, the very thing they were trying to prompt people to do.
So, if nobody accuses them, is it because nobody noticed, or is it because nobody wanted to break the no-accusing rule? It’s impossible to tell, which makes the results of the study worthless.
One pizza place by my old house in the bad part of Minneapolis always had a bunch of cars in the parking lot. One day I decide to try it; I manage to find a parking spot, walk in, and the place is pretty much empty. I order a pizza, take it home, and it’s one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever eaten. That place simply cannot be a legitimate business.
As an adult, I now celebrate the day after Halloween, when I can get to the grocery store right as it opens and grab several giant bags of candy on clearance.
It’s true that we evolved in response to an environment, but the actual genetic changes that allowed for that were not developed with purpose. They happened randomly, and the ones that happened to provide a benefit made those individuals more likely to have more kids that those with less beneficial random changes.
I think some of those purple ones should instead be labeled “If you can find a way to get it to stick around long enough for you to lick, you’ll win a posthumous Nobel prize.”
I was lucky that my family had a Mac when I was a kid. I did all my stupid downloading of random .exe files from sketchy sites on a machine that couldn’t run them, and by the time I got my own PC in high school, I knew a bit better.
You can’t teach if you don’t identify where the students are getting things wrong and correct them. It’s one of the major reasons why teachers deserve so much more pay. My wife used to be a teacher, and she worked 2-3 hours past the end of school correcting students’ work pretty much every weekday, and spent several hours every weekend planning out her lessons for the following week. She got paid significantly less than me working in a basic entry-level 9-5 office position.
