  • Nano isn’t even that simple. Ctrl+X to quit? I guess if you use phonetic sounds to figure out how to exit a program. At least Vim uses the idea of “use what the words start with.”

I personally use micro in the terminal, and Kate if I want a GUI to write. Vim and Emacs are fine for those who want it, I have no stakes in the editor wars beyond “I just want my program to do what I want, and I want it to be simple to learn.”

And then blamed for ruining the 2016 American election.

Snowden showed the government was spying, had to flee, deemed a terrorist. Assange showed the government disobeys the laws it enforces on everyone else, deemed a terrorist. Manning showed that war crimes are constant, deemed a terrorist, subjected to inhumane torture.

Every time a whistleblower exposes corruption and violations of laws in every country, they are punished. China, Russia, America, England, they’re all guilty of it.

“Hey can you help me finish dinner? Make sure the table is set up. Maybe grade some cheese.” Done.

“Dinner is ready! I didn’t mean it was ready-ready, I just used the wrong set of words to explain my desires and needs. Why are you upset that I’m not using the words in the language I thought you? Never mind, I clearly didn’t need any help according to you.”

If you’re adult, talk like one. If you’re a parent, communicate and act like one.

Sure a 5 year old doesn’t have the vocabulary and mental fortitude to understand or explain the concept.

But if you have a child, you raise them for 5 years, I assume you care about them. You can explain “Can you help mommy set the table?” or “Can you pass daddy the plates?”

You don’t need to explain the process of your work and the commute and other things. But if you just explained things to your children, they’ll understand. When my parents did, I got to understood the task and why they wanted it. When my mother or my boss barked orders without any understanding why or how, I was left more confused.

And trust me, I worked retail, most people are fine, some people are real pieces of work. I still have some horror stories of customers, some frequent, some once or twice. But what got me out of every single one, was talking it out. From a dude who had literally half of his skull and brain missing, to my co-workers, to the average customer I forgot by the end of my shift.

    • I think reading about lost media is interesting, especially when its some important event, or the search for it remains fun. Lost Doctor Who episodes are wild. Lost images of the first display of television is weird to consider, when anyone here has never been without television. I understand I’m probably weird on this however.
    • I think approachable and digestible is a good, but my mother really enjoyed true crime, and the two choices were “Direct weekly documentary” like a Cold Case Files, or something that reads as like its water cooler talk about this week’s new drama on Fx. Like the hosts really enjoyed reading about a double-murder. I also understand I’m probably pretty weird on this one.
