  • Yeah I was thinking of TOR when I read about the concept, but I did read a lot in the past how a lot of the nodes aren’t really secure anymore.
I’ll check out the other suggestions. The sidebar doesn’t mention piracy, so I’ll just come out the gate and say that that’s my usecase via torrents.
Which can get pretty expensive where I live due to absurd legal definitions. My thought process was if a P2P VPN gets me through another country where it’s not persecuted as much I’d be safer than going with the proprietary big names.

  • Mastodon doesn’t do it for me, most of what I find interesting isn’t really… there yet.
So my mains are Instagram > Discord > Lemmy > Reddit
    In that order I’d say.
Instagram is just the most “personal” social network. I watch my friends’ stories, share some of my own here and there… It’s close to how we used facebook back when it wasn’t a cesspit of ads and “pages”.
Discord is where I keep in direct contact with most of my friends, besides like messengers. Reddit is for specific problem solving and random hobby content.
Lemmy is filling the same niche but I just scroll it more than I do reddit for news, articles, hobby stuff…
