I condensed the posts a bit since it was a bit too vague.

That reads more like connecting my own devices in a private VPN right?
I was hoping for an alternative to Nord and the likes.
Checking it out, thanks
I think the OP is looking for a decentralized alternative to something like Nord/Express/Mullvad to hide their traffic, and not a way to connect their devices together.
exactly! Sorry if i didn’t write that clearly in the post.
Yeah I was thinking of TOR when I read about the concept, but I did read a lot in the past how a lot of the nodes aren’t really secure anymore.
I’ll check out the other suggestions.
The sidebar doesn’t mention piracy, so I’ll just come out the gate and say that that’s my usecase via torrents.
Which can get pretty expensive where I live due to absurd legal definitions. My thought process was if a P2P VPN gets me through another country where it’s not persecuted as much I’d be safer than going with the proprietary big names.
Used to play blacklight retribution, a f2p shooter. After grinding most of the things i wanted, i ended up paying 10 bucks to unlock a cool helmet and some “shortcut credits” to unlock a few other cosmetics i didnt wanna grind for.
Game is dead nowadays sadly, but they had a great system (for the players)
Ads are a good one. If i try to watch a stream and i get a “wach after 4 ads” counter, i simply close the tab
Rammstein is not a town though, Ramstein(-Miesenbach) is.
I think a good chunk of US american military folks are familiar with Ramstein air base, less so Ramstein-Miesenbach. Internationally I’d imagine even less of either.
Even plenty Rammstein (band) fans aren’t familiar with the origin of the name, nor the town near the airbase :)
I’d comfortably take a bet that Wacken rings more bells around the globe.
Wacken, Germany.
Population: 2110
Home to one of the biggest metal festivals in the world with something between 70k and 120k people. I think Tickets are limited to 70k currently but the whole area is bascially transformed for a week
Thats a specific situation you’re imagining and isnt necessarily what happened
Keep it up, don’t lose that curiosity!
I think thats by design. Microblogging vs Forums.
Ths former, like the bird app is to yell into the void and hear what others yell while lemmy and reddit is built around it’s comment sections.
yo you got your own instance running at 13? that’s so rad
i’m a dev more than twice your age and i couldn’t be bothered to read up on it lmao
Mastodon doesn’t do it for me, most of what I find interesting isn’t really… there yet.
So my mains are Instagram > Discord > Lemmy > Reddit
In that order I’d say.
Instagram is just the most “personal” social network. I watch my friends’ stories, share some of my own here and there… It’s close to how we used facebook back when it wasn’t a cesspit of ads and “pages”.
Discord is where I keep in direct contact with most of my friends, besides like messengers. Reddit is for specific problem solving and random hobby content.
Lemmy is filling the same niche but I just scroll it more than I do reddit for news, articles, hobby stuff…
Pretty much the classic way of things:
“i gotta work out -> I’ll do it daily! -> oh no i missed one day -> might as well give up”
When in reality going once a week is better than not going at all. Going three times a week is difficult enough, especially when you have other responsibilities or hobbies.
Thats when the gains are growing! :'D
Asking for help us a sign if strength, not weakness.
I know that because i find it extremely hard to ask for help.
Rest days are important! Depending on what you’re doing of course but ya need to rest
Usually angry music like melodic black metal or heavy stoner/doom. somehow gives me the right energy to get out of the slump.
