  • I have a theory: information is best remembered if it is acquired solving a problem.

Play with the new tech, hit a roadblock, read and learn. That way you are motivated, know why you are reading the stuff and also only learn the stuff that isn’t intuitive.

Depending on experience many things are just like something you already know and easy to learn/remember, others are not. Don’t waste your time learning the first.

On the other hand, put me into a room with a teacher, who tries to teache me specifics about a tech I don’t care about and I will promise you, I will learn nothing. Even worse, I will start to hate that tech.

  • It’s not about understanding. It’s about sorting,

Everybody understand both notations, but if you use it for filenames sorting is important. Natural sorting order is an important feature that should be considered.

day month year is just stupid in that regard. Not only does the of the month depend on the language, but also if sorted you get the first of every month grouped together.

  • Then explain human history and literally everything else we know

For what? This would change nothing. The only thing you can change are your own actions at this very moment.

It is only denial, optimistic bias, self delusion, and other mediating psychological effects that allow us to see ourselves as anything better

“Everyone is an asshole, so it’s okay for me to be an asshole too”?!

You do you! I strongly believe most people don’t enjoy seeing other people suffering. I’m no saint either but I try my best. I think that’s a way better starting point than your take.

  • I’m with you on that. Most people all to thankfully give up their responsibility and do what they are told. The less they see the outcome of their actions the better (drone Pilots for example).

Anyway, i think the stanford prision experiment is a bad example for that though, because it also incorprates peer pressure and concludes that nobody will think twice doing harm to others, as long as they are told to do so by authority. Humanity isn’t that bad I hope

  • You haven’t ended suffering if you still crave something, in this case nirvana. I don’t crave nirvana, I am and enjoy what is there and endure what I don’t like. What else is there to do?

I’m not really sure if nirvana is possible and I don’t really care, but I feel and understand the logic behind it. It helped me much in the past.

Everyone has its own path. I wish you well

  • Give it two more years and brave will stop backporting manifestv2, then you have even less options to avoid google deciding which content needs to be shoved in your face.

I’m using Firefox since forever. In the past I have checked a few times if a swap to chromium is worth it. It never was.

I really don’t understand people that prefer Google over Mozilla. Firefox works like a charm and Google already knows enough about us IMHO.
