Funko Pops, to me.
I understand that some of them are fairly overpriced, but I also really like them as is. It doesn’t work on all characters, but it sometimes work on a lot and there’s so much representation and variety that it’s good to have a few.
If people want to talk about waste of plastic and vinyl, they should bark at the companies who make teeny tiny figurines that serve no purpose and have so little detail that spending any money on them is a waste.
Nickelback. Hate started as a joke but became real. Not like they’re groundbreaking, but they don’t deserve the amount of actual hate they got.
Also Korn’s dubstep album. Not every song was a hit, but there were quite a few bangers on that track list. Get Up got me into dubstep and still goes hard.
Nickelback fed and banked on that polarization.
I just listened to it again, and it is definitely not as good as I remember it being. I was a fan of it, but I can definitely see how fans of either Korn or dupstep would have disliked it. “Get Up!” in particular is still just as good as I remember, though!
They have 2 or 3 songs that I consider to be fantastic, but a lot of generic stuff. Photograph is their worst song and was so overplayed when it came out.
The worst that Nickelback is, is that they’re just vanilla and bland. But they’re also a band that has at least maybe a single or two songs that you might like. I really dig the Feed the Machine track from them and a few others.
Korn’s dubstep album was…interestingly bad.
That’s another thing that’s unfair! Vanilla being synonymous with plain is nonsense. Vanilla is a flavor, and it’s delicious.
I feel like sometimes people just want to feel like they’re a part of something. Not consciously, necessarily. But like, “the in-group says nickelback sucks, so if I make a joke about how they’re bad people will laugh, and like me, and I’ll fit in”
A lot of people never really stop being teenagers.
