A large group of militant citizens trying to overthrow a global superpower is newsworthy to everyone whether you want it to or not.
I’m American so I was I not supposed to care about the recent situation in South Korea? Should I have complained because not everyone on Lemmy is a South Korean citizen?
Not only is it basic human decency to empathize with others regardless of their geographical coordinates, but political crises across the globe can still potentially affect me, even indirectly.
That event wasn’t posted on !youshouldknow@lemmy.world , it was posted on World News communities, where this post would completely fit.
