  • Hilariously accurate, especially in modern Window’s systems. Like, you press it and it covers your screen with a ‘slide this to shut down’, which if we could do that, we probably wouldn’t be using the button.

Instead of a 5 second press and done it’s become more like a 20 second struggle to tell the PC you really mean it!

  • That’s… not really accurate. All the stuff with the Krogan and Rachni happened centuries prior to humanity making contact. What the story does hint is that humans are not the only ones with racist tendencies. (After rereading, this may have been what you were trying to say)

Humanity butts up against Batarian space and, due to their own conflicts with the galactic political paradigm, that race had shifted to a more hostile system of governance that freely allowed slavery and piracy and the like because everyone else was inferior.

Naturally, we hate them because they hate us.

  • Bittorrent is a file sharing protocol, which isn’t inherently dangerous. The ‘torrent’ contains the information that’s being passed around to allow connectivity to that particular file. This is also not inherently dangerous as that information is very specific and limited… and doesn’t allow any other user to browse the rest of your computer.

What may be dangerous is downloading a file that contains malware or viruses via a torrent. Use reputable sites and keep your security software up to date. Better yet, use a different computer for this activity with a vpn.

  • Back in 1988 I had a school project with a few people, one of whom came from a wealthy family. The project was regarding the stock market, and each team was given a certain amount of imaginary money to invest, to see who would win out at the end of the semester. My friend with the wealthy family came back with a recommendation from his father, of course, and we won the contest easily.

The recommendation? Put all our funds into Berkshire Hathaway.

I had the golden goose egg right in front of me and never invested a dime.

  • Most of hacking is done by mass effort with maybe a couple percent of people that aren’t doing basic things to protect themselves being affected. That couple of percent is enough to keep the hackers flush. (So please, follow basic cybersecurity steps, people.)

The plain truth of the matter, though, is that if a hacker or group of hackers is targeting someone individually for reasons, that person is in real trouble.

This has been a PSA for everyone chasing fame and clout.
