Does the president have complete immunity shouldn’t take more than the time it takes to type the word ‘No’.

He isn’t a king, and as far as I know all six of these idiots went to college and should be aware of that by now.

Okay, but if they don’t say no, Biden has the opportunity to do something very funny.

At least one of the judges needs time to figure out the best vacation package he can get for this ruling.

They’re playing it safe. Their lives could literally be at stake during the night of long knives Trump has promised.

If they wanted to play it safe they could just rule that the Constitution is still valid, particularly the part where insurrectionists can’t hold office.

Fucking cowards are morally obligated to resign if they’re too scared to do their goddamn jobs!

They have zero excuse, and I have zero sympathy.

To be clear: the us is a federal republic, based on a constitution.

That has massive limitations on the current possibilities, which, is a bummer

Kinda sounds like the time when they magically got to decide the elections because they waited until there was no time left instead of actually forcing florida to properly count their votes

If they give the president full immunity, couldn’t Biden just do whatever he wanted

Yes which is why they don’t want to rule until Trump has been voted into office or not. Trump wins, bam immunity. Trump loses, no immunity for Biden.

Yes, but that’s bad too. Legitimacy of government is important, Biden sending out kill squads is only marginally better than Trump sending out kill squads.

In a just world, he’d unpack the court, by force.

Not just saying “anyone who disagrees with my politics”, but Thomas, Kavanaugh, and Barrett have absolutely no business there.

He won’t. They know he won’t. The only way to salvage the government at that point is if Biden starts shooting. The government is pretty fucked anyway if he does, though. I think he’d try to compromise all the way up until he is executed by the next Repub president, hopefully we have 4 years to prepare for that.

A lot of ppl just pretend that the Supreme Court already made up their mind, but honestly I’m not sure.

    No honor among thieves.

Trump is now on the other side of the power imbalance and if they stick to Trump they can’t trust him and might eventually go down with his ship.

There’s a good chance they say “fk it, let’s get rid of him” so they can formerly make it look like they actually wanna be neutral and just stay in power, which in my opinion is the better move rationally (thinking as a psychopath).

So for me, there is a real choice to be made and I will stay invested. Also, the bond issues on his civil trial still stand iirc, so he’s got very slippery pockets and a few vultures are getting acquainted with his situation.

Nah, they know that he’s still useful to help them further their goals. Trump is on team Trump, sure, but he got them a lot of what they wanted with just one term. If they let him go to jail, it’s practically guaranteeing a second Biden term. Though, voter turnout would probably be pretty low if that were to happen, so they’d likely keep control of the house and be able to force horrible “compromises” with the Democrats for not blowing up the country at that particular moment in time.
